Released Time for Sex Ed & Religious Instruction

There is just no way we are going to reach a consensus in our government-run schools on how to teach sex, or how exactly to apply the First Amendment’s prohibition on establishing a religion, yet allowing for its free exercise thereof. Many parents are now realizing that what is being taught in the public school their children attend is hostile to their values in the area of family, parenting, sexuality, religion, etc. Given these controversies, why don’t we just allow a set time during the school day to “release” the students to receive this instruction from an educator approved by the student’s family to teach the curriculum they choose? This could be an elective class occurring in person on campus, on campus via the internet from the approved educator who is remote, or off campus.
