School Choice

Parents should have numerous education options available to them, such as; private schools, charter schools, homeschooling, traditional local public schools, micro-schools, learning pods, etc. If we are going to continue to force all families to pay a tax to fund government-led schools, then the money to pay for public education should follow the child. Families who don’t choose the government-run school they are assigned based on their address, should be able to choose another public school, charter school, private school, or whatever educational setting they desire. If they choose a private school or other private educational setting, they should at least receive an education savings account in the form of a grant equal to government per-pupil funding. Families can use the grant for tuition, textbooks, tutoring, etc. Any funds not used up by high school graduation should go back into the parents' pocket for them to use as they wish.
